What is a Kantha?
A kantha is made from repurposed cottons that are patched, mended, layered then hand-stitched, traditionally used as a blanket, originating from West Bengal and Bangladesh.
We select each kantha working closely with one family in Jaipur, India.
Each is soft to touch, shows signs of wear, revealing layers beneath; each has already lived a life. That’s what makes each one so special. Kantha are the resourceful re-use of fabrics and part of a tradition of upcycling.
They are the opposite of throwaway, the opposite of fast fashion.
Why Workwear?
It’s ageless, genderless and timeless. It can be worn by everyone. Workwear suits every body.
Each individual garment is completely unique. The production process from start to finish is complex.
Adjustments are made at every stage, from the selection of each kantha to the placement of each pattern piece. It’s this attention to detail that makes our garments each a one of one.
Because the fabrics are special, we use the leftovers from production to make unique t-shirts.
These are made by us in-house, one by one.
Each Garment is Unrepeatable
Because each kantha is unique, no two garments we make are the same.
Each garment is rich with detail and colour, soft to touch.
Discovery happens each time it is worn.
The beauty is in each and every imperfection.
That’s why we say imperfections are intentional.
